eBay Inc. provides online trading services by developing eBay Marketplace, an Internet-based community in which buyers and sellers are brought together to buy and sell various products. eBay's online service permits sellers to list items for sale, buyers to bid on items, and users to browse through listed items in a fully automated service that is available online 24 hours a day. Through its PayPal service, eBay enables various businesses or consumers with e-mail in 44 countries to send and receive online payments. In December 2004, eBay had Websites directed toward the United States, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, New Zealand, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan and the United Kingdom. In February 2005, it acquired, an Internet listing Website for the apartment and rental housing sector.
